Jack And The Beans

Jack and the Beans

Based in Beautiful South Wales.

Jack & The Beans Coffee Company is a family run micro-roasters.

Jack, the founder has been immersed in hospitality since the age of 16.

Born and bred in Liverpool with a 7 year detour to Leeds, he started volunteering in a church coffee shop and found his feet very quickly.

Since then, he has done everything in the hospitality industry including bar and coffee shop supervisor, server and pastry chef. But his real calling was in coffee.

As his love of coffee grew, so did his knowledge.

Starting the business in 2019, Jack started to learn the art of roasting and after a long 6 months finally got his hands a Behmor 1600plus AB machine in July 2020.

The other key member is Jack’s wife, Emily.

Although she has no prior training or knowledge of coffee, she has taken to it like a duck to water.

In fact, Emily didn't even like coffee before meeting Jack! Learning an awful lot though research and immersing herself in the industry, she is the heartbeat of their operation.

Known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda has the perfect environment to grow speciality Arabica coffee.

Since the genocide of the 90’s, coffee has played a huge role in getting the country back to where it once was.

The introduction of washing stations and the education of younger generations about growing high quality coffee has been a symbol of positivity in Rwanda.

Rwanda has a slightly different flavour profile to that of an Ethiopian or Kenyan.

What it lacks in bright citrus notes it makes up for in deeper, more concentrated fruit flavours.
